Join us at St Tydfil Old Parish Churchyard for a fascinating, educational, and fun-filled day to Commemorate Saint Tydfil. There will be music workshops, curious crafts, herbs and heritage, a monologue, a choir, artefacts (including full-size swords and shields), historical and traditional face painting, and much more! All ages are welcome.
The town of Merthyr Tydfil is said to be named in honour of Tydfil, daughter of King Brychan of Brycheiniog, as the place where she was slain and martyred c.480 (Merthyr meaning martyr in Welsh). The old parish church of St Tydfil is dedicated to her and is reputed to be the site of her death.
