Merthyr Tydfil’s Virtual Christmas 2021

The continuing uncertainty caused by the pandemic means that Merthyr Tydfil’s Christmas lights will have a ‘virtual’ switch-on for the second year in a row. With Covid-19 infections still at a high rate across the UK, We Love Merthyr and partners Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and St Tydfil Shopping Centre have reluctantly taken the decision not to have a switch-on event. A Petticoat Trail through Merthyr Tydfil

Find out all about the women who have played an often largely hidden role in the rich history of our town on this entertaining and enlightening guided walk with local historian Huw Williams. Starting and finishing with the martyr herself, the tour includes a couple of redoubtable shopkeepers, a connection to Queen Victoria, some formidable women protesters, links to the coal trade and much more!
